Students from Greece and the Greek diaspora can now apply for the 6th NextGen Innovators competition, a nationwide entrepreneurial challenge focused on sustainability and innovation. The application deadline for the NextGen Innovators competition has been set for March 23, according to organizers Envolve Entrepreneurship, who run the program with support from Greece’s Education Ministry.

The competition invites teams of middle and high school students to collaborate with teachers, mentors, and industry experts on developing projects that address social or environmental challenges. According to the organizers, submissions must include a comprehensive business plan, evidence of sustainability measures, and a short video presentation introducing the proposed idea.

Building Skills Through the NextGen Innovators Program

The initiative aims to help young participants develop critical skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and presenting innovative concepts to various audiences. Additionally, the program provides teachers with valuable experience in mentoring students and implementing innovation-focused educational approaches in their classrooms.

Participants who advance in the competition gain access to numerous opportunities beyond the classroom setting. However, the benefits extend far beyond simple recognition, as winners receive both financial support and international exposure.

Rewards and International Opportunities

Past participants in the entrepreneurship competition have received awards of up to €2,500, according to program records. Meanwhile, teams have also been invited to showcase their projects at prestigious venues including the Delphi Economic Forum, where they present their ideas to business leaders and policymakers.

Some winning teams have traveled internationally to meet global leaders at the UN General Assembly in New York. In contrast, other participants have visited Brussels for specialized educational programs at the European Parliament, gaining firsthand experience in international policy discussions.

These international experiences provide students with networking opportunities and exposure to decision-makers across various sectors. Additionally, participants gain insight into how innovation and entrepreneurship function on a global scale.

Program Impact and Educational Goals

Since its launch in 2012, the program has reached more than 5,200 students and teachers across Greece and the Greek diaspora, according to Envolve Entrepreneurship. The organization states that the competition aims to prepare young innovators for leadership roles and creative problem-solving in an increasingly complex world.

The emphasis on sustainability and social impact reflects growing recognition of environmental and social challenges facing future generations. However, the program also focuses on practical business skills, ensuring students understand both the idealistic and commercial aspects of entrepreneurship.

The involvement of industry experts and mentors provides students with real-world perspectives on implementing innovative ideas. Teachers participating in the program benefit from professional development opportunities that enhance their ability to guide student-led projects.

Application Requirements and Process

Teams interested in the student innovation challenge must prepare three key components for their application. The business plan should outline the project’s goals, implementation strategy, and potential impact on the target community or environment.

Proof of sustainability measures must demonstrate how the project addresses environmental or social concerns in a responsible manner. Meanwhile, the video presentation allows teams to communicate their passion and vision in a creative, engaging format that goes beyond written documentation.

The competition organizers have not yet announced when finalists will be selected or when awards will be presented. Students and teachers interested in participating have until March 23 to complete and submit their applications through the official program channels.
