Greek artist Akylas will represent Greece at Eurovision 2026 with his song “Ferto” after winning the national selection competition Sing For Greece. The 27-year-old musician, born Akylas Mytilinaios, triumphed in the final held on Sunday, securing top points from all three voting categories to earn his place at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

The national selection process began with 28 competing songs and narrowed down through two semi-finals earlier in the week. Fourteen finalists competed on Sunday evening for the opportunity to represent Greece on the Eurovision stage. According to the voting system, points were allocated through a jury vote worth 25 percent, an international jury vote contributing another 25 percent, and a public vote accounting for 50 percent of the total.

Greece Eurovision Entry Delivers Social Commentary

“Ferto,” which translates to “Bring it” in English, has been characterized as a sharp critique addressing the greed and overconsumption prevalent in contemporary society. The song’s powerful message resonated with voters across all categories, establishing it as the clear winner of the competition. The track showcases Akylas’s ability to blend meaningful lyrics with contemporary musical production.

Meanwhile, the artist’s journey to Eurovision represents a remarkable rise in the Greek music industry. Akylas first gained widespread recognition in 2024 with his hit single “Atelié,” which introduced audiences to his distinctive style. Originally from Serres, the self-taught musician honed his craft at the Serres Music School and expanded his performance abilities through theatrical workshops.

From TikTok Covers to Eurovision Stage

After relocating to Athens, Akylas built a substantial following through viral cover performances on TikTok. His social media presence helped establish him as an emerging talent in the Greek music scene. However, his success extends beyond digital platforms, as he has developed a reputation as a captivating live performer.

Additionally, critics have praised Akylas for his unique artistic approach that combines multicultural and contemporary musical elements while maintaining a distinctly Greek identity. This fusion of styles sets him apart in an increasingly globalized music landscape. His theatrical background contributes to performances that engage audiences both sonically and visually.

Eurovision 2026 Vienna Details

The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is scheduled to take place at Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle, according to official announcements. The competition will follow the traditional format with two semi-finals scheduled for May 12 and May 14, followed by the grand final on May 16. Greece will compete in one of the semi-finals, with the specific allocation to be determined through an upcoming draw.

In contrast to some previous years, Greece enters the competition with considerable momentum behind its representative. The decisive victory in the national selection demonstrates strong domestic support for both the artist and the song. The unanimous approval from jury members and public voters suggests “Ferto” has broad appeal that could translate well to the international Eurovision audience.

Furthermore, Greece has a storied history at Eurovision, having won the contest twice and regularly qualifying for the final. The country’s most recent victory came in 2005 with Helena Paparizou’s “My Number One.” Since then, Greek entries have achieved varying degrees of success, with the nation hoping Akylas can deliver a strong result in Vienna.

The coming months will see Akylas and his team prepare for the Eurovision stage, potentially refining the performance and staging elements. Specific details about the Vienna performance, including choreography and visual production, have not yet been confirmed by the Greek delegation.
