Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair has been appointed as senior advisor to Greece’s Antenna Group, the country’s largest media company announced recently. The appointment comes as the organization prepares to host the Europe-Gulf Forum, a major international diplomatic initiative scheduled for May 2026 in Greece that aims to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between European and Gulf nations.

According to the media group’s statement, Blair will provide strategic guidance as Antenna Group collaborates with the Atlantic Council to organize the forum. The event is designed to serve as a platform for fostering stronger ties between the two regions during a period of heightened global tensions.

Strategic Value of Tony Blair Appointment

Antenna Group emphasized that Blair’s extensive geopolitical experience and diplomatic expertise will bring significant strategic value to the forum’s objectives. The former prime minister, who served in office from 1997 to 2007, has maintained an active role in international affairs through various advisory and diplomatic positions since leaving government.

Theodore Kyriakou, chairman of Antenna Group, praised the appointment in the company’s announcement. He stated that Blair’s extensive experience in managing key international issues and deep diplomatic knowledge align with the organization’s core values of integrity and connecting people for progress.

Europe-Gulf Forum Objectives

The Europe-Gulf Forum represents a significant diplomatic initiative aimed at bridging two strategically important regions. Kyriakou noted that the forum strengthens the company’s strategic reach and reflects a firm belief that dialogue builds trust, creates opportunities, and brings nations closer together.

Blair himself characterized the Europe-Gulf Forum as both important and timely given current global circumstances. According to his statement, the initiative addresses the challenge of increasing global polarization by facilitating connections between societies and reducing rivalries.

The former British prime minister highlighted the substantial common ground between the regions. He emphasized that Europe and the Gulf share deep strategic interests and possess significant scope for cooperation across multiple domains, making the forum a meaningful initiative for future relations.

Antenna Group’s International Ambitions

The appointment signals Antenna Group’s expanding role beyond traditional media operations into international diplomacy and strategic dialogue. By partnering with the Atlantic Council, a prominent international affairs think tank, the Greek media company is positioning itself as a facilitator of high-level geopolitical discussions.

Meanwhile, the timing of the forum reflects growing recognition of the importance of Europe-Gulf relations. Both regions face common challenges including energy security, economic cooperation, climate change, and regional stability concerns that require coordinated approaches.

Additionally, Blair’s involvement brings considerable international credibility to the initiative. His post-premiership career has included roles as Middle East envoy and advisor to various governments and organizations, providing him with extensive networks in both European and Gulf capitals.

However, authorities have not yet disclosed specific details about the forum’s agenda, participant list, or exact location within Greece. The collaboration between Antenna Group and the Atlantic Council suggests the event will attract high-level political and business leaders from both regions.

Further announcements regarding the Europe-Gulf Forum’s program and participants are expected in the coming months as preparations advance toward the May 2026 date. The success of the initiative will likely depend on securing participation from key decision-makers and addressing pressing issues relevant to both European and Gulf stakeholders.
